Hi everyone
We have a green and white G3 here in work, it's recently had a "clean install" of OS 9.1 but for some reason when you open up any server connections it takes at least 2 mins to show the contents. I've changed every wire and point between the Mac and the hub but the problem is still there.Does anyone have a solution, I've got a very impatient user breathing down my neck.
Appreciate any help
Gerry Rigney

1) Are you using AppleTalk or TCP/IP for the connection?
Throw out your TCP/IP prefs as well as your AppleTalk prefs, re-create them, and make sure you're connecting over AppleTalk instead of TCP/IP. TCP/IP is terribly slow for AFP under Mac OS 9.x in my experience, especially on a LAN as compared to AppleTalk.
p

Dumped AppleTalk and TCP/IP prefs but to no avail. We currently use both AppleTalk and TCP/IP here and I'm afraid switching to AppleTalk alone is not an option as many of our printers and plotters use TCP/IP only and also we have a file server which only uses TCP/IP. As we do not have this "slow network connection" on any other mac I don't think that using AppleTalk and TCP/IP is the problem.
Thank you for your response and advice (any more would be greatly appreciated !)
