Comment:

my friend has an ibook and while running Internet
Explorer 5.2 for mac it runs very very slow with
lots of "balloons" between loading pages.

the connection is DSL.
i am a PC man so i am not that familiar with how
MAC's can be tweaked.

- are there any good programs to supress or
maximize memory usage
- is there any way to defrag or clean a MAC's
harddrive
- is internet explorer just a bad program to use on
MACs?

any tips or comments would be great.
thanks

Reply:

Throw out IE and use Chimera instead.

Tell him to upgrade the RAM as far as he can afford to, preferably to at least 512MB. Should cost about $100 or less.
