Silly DVD-R Drive Problem

So we got a new G4 at work and my boss put an old dvd-r drive in it. Problem is, the drive door is slightly wider than the silver tray on the front of the case. They really don't want to buy another drive, so are there any places that have irregular front panels for sale? Or is there another way we can solve this without hooking it up externally? Thanks.

I have to ask ... did your boss not check to see if it fit before he installed it?
I'm going to assume that since you said it's a new G4 that it's one of the mirrored drive door models. I know of no replacement bezels that will allow for larger drive doors. The only option I can think of is to remove the door on the bezel, but that's not overly attractive. Or ... you could use a bandsaw and make the thing wider.

for the time and expense of finding and purchasing a custom front panle you may as well just get an ext FW drive enclosure.

Is it possible that since the regular CD drawer is a slim design that Apple designed a special Super Drive for that case and the Catalog Copanies tried to install another maybe cheaper super drive? My Super Drive arrived an a separate box, althouoght I had paid for installation. Now I think I know why!
