hi!

i am an avid windoze user, and i'm getting tired of it. i want to switch to MAC, but they are very expensive? (the cheapest one is the mac mini that costs $680 Canadian)

but they look so cool!!!!!!!

i want to know if it is feasible to switch to MAC.

also, i want to know what mac offers me that windoze doesn't.

one more question: are they easy to use AND network?

thanks to all mac fans in advance!

any and all feedback is appreciated.

Macs come out of the box wanting to be on the network in
the worst way. Try and stop it, I dare you.

Here's a Web site that discusses how to switch:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/
en/disc15.html\

The difference: A Mac offers you a machine that has been
tested with all its parts in place. There is no guessing
about which video card it has, or logic board, or USB
ports, etc. Apple tests its OS and its software on the
components as a whole. That is why it just works. And the
Unix platform is extremely stable, with a rare virus scare.
Dell, Gateway, HP, Sony sell hardware. Microsoft sells the
OS. It isn't financially feasible for all iterations of the
hardware to be tested with the OS. And it isn't financially
feasible (even Microsoft) to test the OS with all iterations
of the hardware. The Mac can afford to be seamless
because the same company makes the hardware and the
software.

And the free software you get is fantastic. I would
encourage you to spend a few more dollars and get iWork
(a PowerPoint application on steroids and a great
PageMaker-like page layout app.) You'll love iPhoto. And, of course, GarageBand is truly a marvel.

Let me know if you have any questions. I've never known anyone who has regretted the decision to switch.

When you say an "avid windows user" do you mean you use the video editing application "Avid" for windows, and are considering running it on a mac? If you have to work with Avid because it is what they use at your work, or something then use it. Others wise, I would recommend Final Cut Pro because it is a lot easier to use.

I hope to be the owner of a power mac g5 dual 2ghz by the end of this month!

sorry! i meant that i'm a windows pro, but i really want to switch to mac. i've just been put off by the price. mac IS expensive.

i've narrowed it down to the :
> mac mini with my lcd scren and usb mouse and keyboard
> the emac with everything it comes with

which should i choose?

in either case, does the mac mini / emac work with " 512MB PC2700 GB Micro RAM " ???

thanks for the info!!

switching to mac right now would be pretty stupid. they are switching to x86 soon and then your hardware will be obsolete. and even worse is that terifficly ugly mac interface.
