Comment: Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop and was thinking about switching to a mac. What i'm worried about however is which laptop should i buy and if any at the moment. With the entire intel switch and macbook pro and what not should i just wait till the dust settles? When i buy the laptop i plan on keeping it for at least 5 years or so, so i want to buy something that will last. I would love to buy the current macbook pro but it is currently out of my price range. With your experiance do you know when the price will drop? Thanks

Reply: (edit)I think like xp, it might be best to wait for the dust to settle and some glitches worked out. I have recently heard a little bit of issues with the intel chip. It might be wise to listen and see where things are going as some of the issues are reminiscent of pc platform woes. PCtoMac

Reply: (edit)You'll find some useful info here http://www.monitor.ca/monitor/issues/vol13iss7/feature5.html this is Jobs' address to MacWorld about the switch to intel... especially the parts titled "Then, the lid blew off!" and "Some caveats" PCtoMac

Reply: (edit)the ppc macs are tried and true, and will do all you could ever want for the next five years, without bugs. I'd consider buying an intel mac...in 2010...
