Hi,

I recently moved from a G3 to a G4. I was
using an external SCSI CD-Writer via a PCI
slot with Toast 4 application.

When I moved to the G4, I installed the PCI
board and installed Toast 3 (Toast 4
installation discs were not available).

Now I cannot see the external CD-Writer. I
attached a zip drive to the PCI card and I
can't see that either.

IN Apple System Profiler, the following was
listed for the relevant slot.

Slot SLOT-D
PCI Slot
Card type: Not available
Card name: pci9004,7850
Card model: Not available
Card ROM #: Not available
Card revision: 3
Card vendor ID: 9004

Does anyone have any idea what I should tr

Have the same problem.
My pci9004,7850 comes from a Nikon scan pack
with an installer so that the card was
recognized. But I have reformated the HD
(problems with OSX), can't find the software
nikon so that my pci card can't be recognized...

I have the same problem. I purchased a
refurbished G3/400 and it came with the
pci9004,7850 that is not recognized.
I don't know where to turn. I would like to
hook my scsi external iomega zip drive to
this card- since it is already a DB25.
Any information

I had the same problem.
You just need to hunt down the software
driver.
I copied it from the computer I used to
use the card on.
I'ts called Adaptec SCSI Card 2906 Driver.
Good luck.

Hi,
I had the same problem: I recently installed
an old scanner's software and it pratically
wracked my G4 because everything had to
reformated again to get it to work.
Everything is working more or less except
that my CD recoreder and scanncer is still
not working and it's not recognized in my
apple system profiler.
IN Apple System Profiler, the following was
listed for the relevant slot.
Slot SLOT-C
PCI Slot
Card type: Not available
Card name: pci9004,7850
Card model: Not available
Card ROM #: Not available
Card revision: 3
Card vendor ID: 9004
I had gone to the web and hunted down the
software driver "called adaptec SCSI Card
2906 driver" and put it in my extension
folder but it still does not work. Any ot
