I put a Quantum scsi 500mb hard drive in my Mac Classic II but It wont recognize the hard drive. I'm using the Apple hd sc 7.5.3 utility and i patched it to work with drives other then apple. I checked the jumpers and its set to scsi 0. Everythings seems fine but it still wont see it..
Please Help!

In my experience Quantum drives were
commonly used by apple as standard
equipment, so I don't think the 'patch' was
necessary. Try apple's 'Drive Setup' util.
I seem to remember something about the
way the drive must be FORMATTED for
use on those old clunkers. Something
about format setting for 4 rotations, not 3,
or something like that (anybody?). You
may have to re-FORMAT the drive (not
merely re-INITIALIZE). I would use
whatever version of apples 'Drive Setup'
or equivalent that is part of the OS you will
be running.
Good luck.
