Is there a way that I can create a folder on my hard drive, where I can restore my Mac, but not touch anything in that folder. I have about 19 GB of MP3s from all my CDs and whatnot, and I really don't want to burn that many CDs to save them all. I have a XP computer that is on the same network, but moving things from here to there/ there to here is a very slow process. What can I do?
Best solution would be to buy an external drive, preferable firewire capable. Then use a program like SuperDuper! to create a back up of the entire drive. Then if you have a catastrophic problem you simple image the external back to the machine.
I have an external that has several partitions for this purpose. 3 of the partitions are used to hold back ups of each of our 3 Macs, and the 4th partition is used for storing misc stuff.
