Safari font problems

i had a problem with safari using HELVETICA FRACTIONS when it loaded...deleted the font...all good...2 days later, it now uses TIMES PHONETIC ALTERNATIVE...deleted the font from my font library, fontbook and suitcase...STILL THERE...tried selecting other fonts in safari preferences, but nothing changes...i now use Opera as my browser, but would like to use Safari again...help!?
...now read nuff blogs/posts about similar problems...tonnes actually..nothing...10.3.watever-- "UPDATE AND UR TROUBLES ARE SOLVED.." not true at all...still stuck..killed suitcase..deleted fontbook altogether....no difference..i swear...if it wasn't 20" of LCD sweetness...
