Is it possible to access the files in my Dell desktop with a Mac wifi notebook running off Apple's Airport Extreme connected to a the same cable modem the desktop is running on? Can Mac read the XP files at all? Is this like Apples and Oranges[Windows]?

Yes it can sir. All you have to do is setup file sharing, on your dell then share the file you want to acsses and look for it on the mac's network folder.

Bill Gates needs a seperate computer at the IRS just for his own taxes, because he has so much money. Yet, Microsoft makes crap stuff.
