I have a flowpoint 144 DSL modem connected to the WAN port on my 4-port LINKSYS BROADBAND CABLE/DSL ROUTER. I have an IBM connected to the router, and the IBM is set to DHCP. This works fine (I can access the internet). I connected the i-mac to another port on the router and in the TCP/IP I set the i-mac to DHCP. When I save that and re-open TCP/IP, the i-mac shows an IP address that doesn't correspond with the router. The subnet mask is also wrong (255.255.0.0). Obviously, the i-mac won't connect to the internet. I then went back to TCP/IP and manually entered an IP address that corresponded to the router and the correct subnet mask, but I still couldn't connect to the internet. When I plug the i-mac directly into the modem and set the IP addresses for the internet on my i-mac, I CAN connect to the internet. Can you please tell me how to use the router with the i-mac. (My ISP is Flashcom).

Jared,
I know this is old.
How did you solve. I have iMac, PC's at home and attempting to attach to a dynamic DSL IP address. To add to the confusion I want to do a "back-door" VPN to our downtown office.Home I am trying Thursby's Dave's software to network with Vicomsoft to share the DSL. Possibly TimBuckToo to connect downtown but I really need Apple Remote Access to run over DSL?
Any Help or suggestions?
