I'd like to replace the hdd in my iMac. Will a desktop drive, Ultra ATA 66 specifically, suffice?

Check the apple spec database to see if it's a half-height, or what-not. I am guessing it's a laptop style HD in there. If yours is a match (or thinner) then give it a go. You could always open the iMac and look.

The apple specs database doesn't state the physical size of the hdd, only the interface type and capacity. I guess I will just have to open it up. Thanks.
