Is there a way of recovering video files after a quick format and re-install?
I know that you can't if you "zero all data"

Thanks for any replies

Unlikely you'll be able to recover anything after a reformat.
You could try data rescue, or a data recovery company.

Actually, I would disagree with that comment. The OS is
installed on the first few gigabytes of a hard drive and the
rest is used for data storage. I suspect if you just reinstalled
the OS then you should be able to access all of your data
again using some data recovery software, like data rescue
mentioned above, as it should still be there.

Good luck!
