Comment: Copied and pasted my original message and reply to my message here. Followed advice and trashed the items. They reappear about once a week. Trashed them again this morning. Why do they continue to reappear in trash can about once a week? Original Message Name: Novice Date: February 09, 2003 at 17:47:16 Pacific Subject: Rescued items from mac hd OS: 9.1 CPU/Ram: 576 Comment: I'm embarrassed to admit, I don't even remember what I did a couple of weeks ago, but this is my delima now. There are two items in my trash. Decided I'd better take a look at them before emptying, They are both folders and they both say Rescued items from mac hd. When I double click, one says download cache, the other says IE cache.lck . If I double click they take me to internet explorer and the curser just keeps spirling. I don't understand any of this. Is it okay to put them back in the trash and empty it? Response Number 1 Name: fieraci Date: February 09, 2003 at 18:01:57 Pacific Subject: Rescued items from mac hd Reply: Yes. Empty it, and sleep well tonight.

Reply: (edit)Yes, It's crashed. Sorry for the delay in answering. Never found items rescued from hd in trash before. Maybe it's because I went from 9.0.4 to 9.1 and things work differently? Appreciate your help.

Reply: (edit)Every time the Mac crashes, temporary stuff gets "recovered" to the Trash. Well-written apps will take this data and do something useful with it; for instance, WordPerfect will take the data and reconstruct whatever you were working on at the time of the crash. IE doesn't do anything with it, and those files that keep appearing are useless. BTW, throw out IE and use iCab instead and you won't have this problem. p
