To whomever was trying to find out how to read CHM files on a Mac, here's a partial solution (unfortunately, it still requires access to a Windows machine initially).

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/htmlhelp/html/vscondecomp.asp

In summary, this page explains how to 'decompile' a *.chm file into its component pieces (ie: recreate the HTML file structure that the CHM file contains internally). Basically, use the following:

HH.EXE -decompile [folder] [chm]

where [folder] is the name of a folder to contain the extracted files (it will create it if necessary), and [chm] is the name of the chm file you wish to decompile.

Not the greatest solution, as it still requires access to a Windows box to run the executable, but once you extract 'em, zip them up and view them using your preferred browser.

(Tried to post this as a response to the original post, but the site wouldn't permit it).
