Uh, who told you that the video in an iMac was upgradeable?

Might I take this opportunity to clarify?

1) You buy the card.
2) You find out you can't use it.

Or did things happen in the other order?

you're correct- thats the way it happened. when i read the specs on my imac ( http://www.epinions.com/Apple_iMac_PowerPC_G3_700MHz___60GB___256MB___Mac_OS_X___Mac_OS_9_1___iMac__Graphite___Desktops_M8510LL_A/display_~full_specs ) and it did not say that the video card was intergrated i figured that i could change it- guess i was wrong:(

Well, hopefully, you bought it from a place with a good return policy...although a reputable salesperson wouldn't have allowed you to buy that in the first place ;)

You:
"did some searching on this forum and
found this........and figured that i couldn't".

The very first sentence in that link you
gave states "I know you can't replace the
graphics card in an iMac, which had me
at a dead loss."

Then you go buy some graphics card
anyway?

.......Golly.

No...i bought the video card first from Ebay for cheap- then when i tried to install it i started having problems finding the video card on my mac. Then i found out there isnt a video card but rather a graphics chip.

So for future reference, why did you buy a video card without investigating whether or not you could use it *first?*

The cap inside the little door on the side
of my volvo it says 'fuel'. It doesn't SAY that
I can't put JET FUEL in there, but if I
wanted to do it I would certainly look into it
to make sure before I went and bought 25
gallons.

i tell you what fieraci, between you and the pickle, you two sure know how to make people feel like dumbasses. i thought this was a forum where people that don't understand something come to get help, not to be cracked on or be made fun of. thanks for nothing. not that either of you give a damn but i will make sure to go elsewhere for computer questions/problems in the future.

Michelle (Yeah, I know...),

Don't get your pigtails in a twist.
Though you may find it here, this really
isn't the place for Emily Post etiquette and
Proper Queen's English politeness and
social grace. You will usually get a
straight answer, along with some advice.
The cost: Free, but you risk getting
'cracked on'. Sometimes mercilessly
(THIS thread is not an example of THAT).
It doesn't mean anyone hates you or
thinks you are a supreme dumbass
(Well, sometimes maybe, but not in this
case).
We learn from our mistakes. Myself
included. And doing something kind of
stupid, then realizing your mistakes,
looking back and saying to YOURSELF
"Ahhh, you dumbass!" is probably the
healthiest thing you can do to have it sink
in as long as you don't take it too
seriously and start shopping around for
therapists or discount Prozac.

So, take a pic of that vid card, put it on
auction at Ebay so you can get rid of it,
and the first time you see that pic on your
auction say to yourself one last time
"Ahhh, you dumbass!". And put it behind
you.

O.K. .....dumbass?

You're a twat, feraci.

I agree with Michell. After reading this thread, I get
the impression you have nothing better to do than
insult people for not being 'as clever as you'.

I just think you need to be more helpful and less
insulting, man.

Rob
