Smart people only make the same mistake once. I did the following twice, with the same result ... not many IQ points here!
When I start Quicken, Quicken asks if I want to make Quicken my default "Web-Connect" browser. I always say no except for two instances when I was brain-dead. Six months ago, I said yes by mistake and all subsequent internet browsing, whether by Explorer or Netscape, was excrutiatingly slow. After many attempts to fix the problem, I installed a PowerLogic G4 500 MHz processor upgrade (which I really like!) in my Wallstreet, and the browsing speed was restored to its original fast condition. I was very pleased and attributed the browser's speed increase to the new processor until last week, when I again said yes (by mistake) to Quicken's query, "Do I want to make Quicken my default web-connect application?" Ever since I said yes, the internet access again is horribly slow.
In an effort to fix this problem, I have deleted quicken's preferences, TCP/IP preferences, Internet preferences, Netscape preferences all to no avail.
I have plenty of RAM (512 MB) and am running 9.1 and access the internet thru Cox cable via DHCP. Cox tried to fix this problem the first time that it happened, but couldn't. I remember that the Cox technician was complaining that my TCP/IP kept picking up an errant IP address that was hard-wired in from somewhere. I can access the internet, but it takes a long time to load any new page.
Any ideas? I hope!! ThanksGeorge
