I have purchased a Pwr Mac 7500/100 used. It has an after mkt drive that for some reason I can't load OS8 or run the disc Dr applications on. I have loaded Norton Tools and have checked the drive a number of times and corrected many errors. Still can't get the new OS to load. I also am lookin for a patch that allows me to view newer versions of Excel files using an older version. tks

download the latest version of "drive setup" from apple's website. it allows you to update drivers of third parties. next, us the system CD that came with your computer and boot-up from it (hold down the "c" key during start-up). if need be, reformat the drive, otherwise run norton's off of an external device (while booting off the system CD) sometimes you can't fix something on the harddrive if you've booted off of the same one.
as for the excel problem, go to www.microsoft.com and see if you can download a patch or an updater.
