hi,
thanks for the tip.
i run a macos9 64mb ram & i would
appreciate it if you could shed light on
this: a friend had this flashing question
mark in a folder problem. on pressing the
option, command, shift & delete button -
on startup- i noticed a rather unusual
(well, at least, to me) thing. on screen
where three icons arranged almost
horizontally. starting from the left, was a
rectangular icon with an arrow on it
almost forming a circle, second was the
flashing folder, and third, was yet another
rectangular icon with yet another arrow
this time pointing to the right.
could you please enlighten a puzzled and
inquisitive mind?

The "D-O-C-S" key sequence on startup forces the mac to seek an alternate disk to boot from rather than the main hard drive. Upon not finding one this is what you see. don't go messing with wacky key combo's on startup just to 'See what happens'. You can get into •••trouble••• that way. If you are looking for 'Easter Eggs', just pull a search for them on any search engine and you'll find the 'safe' thing to do.
