Comment: Message reads: This program cannot run on your computer. See the documentation for more information. Hardware: Power Mac 8500/180; 208MB Ram; 2G HD; CD-ROM Software: OS 8.6 I boot from the CD with the Virus software removed and the extensions off. I open the 0S 9 installer (disc reads version 9.0.2) and the message: This program cannot run on your computer. See the documentation for more information appears. What step or steps should I take to remedy this. thanks, ditmas11

Reply: (edit)I got that trying to run Appleworks 6 on my 7600/120, 8.5.1 and had to install ( copy ) the 'carbon' extension into my extension folder, off an OS 9 disk. I think you need to review the OS requirements fer the software yer installing. and you need to post what software yer trying to run, so someone can read its requirements and point you in the direction of a fix. GL Greg

Reply: (edit)The 9.0.2 is a dead giveaway. You're being naughty, trying to install OS 9 on an older Mac using a CD that came with a FireWire PowerBook :) While you might be able to trick it somehow, I wouldn't recommend it. p

Reply: (edit)Is it possible to install OS 9 on a Power Mac 8500/180? If so, what version of OS 9 do I need so the message "This program cannot run on your computer. See the documentation for more information appears." does not appear? I've tried installing OS 9 twice. I tried versions 9.0.2 and 9.0.4, both times the aforementioned message appeared. Help please.
