Comment: I have a CD-ROM that canīt be opened neither on PC nor on MAC. The MAC tells me that the CD is formated in "proDOS" whatever that is! How can I retrieve the data?

Reply: (edit)I get that error when I put a DVD movie in my powerbook's DVD ROM drive without the PCMCIA DVD decoder card installed. IE-the Mac doesn't have the drivers/ extensions/etc. it needs to read the disc. Try enabling the necessary system extensions. Also, try using HFV Explorer (it's free, just run a search for it) in Windows to see if IT can read the CD. HFV Explorer is a free Winodws program that allows reading of Mac formatted disks, CDs and volumes. If it can't read it, and the Mac still won't read it after enabling the necessary extensions, it is possible that the disc is bad.

Reply: (edit)news flash, ProDOS is an Apple ][ OS a mac with system 7.5 should be able to read the disk (or disks, ProDOS could only map a 32 Mb partion) but as to opening the files your best bet would be to find some one that has an Apple //gs with a SCSI card and CD-rom to open the files proper like.
