I've been having problems with Safari downloading
applications to my desktop. When I hit a download link,
the page refreshes, but Safari's downloads window does
not appear, and nothng happens. I've asked around and
nobody seems to know what to do. One person suggested
that I trash the downloads.plist, and I've done so- several
times. I'm working with an iMac G4, version 10.3. Any
suggestions on how to solve this problem would be
greatly appreciated.

mariposa_catcher,
this probably isn't the kind of help you had in mind... but i use firefox as my primary browser and it works awesome! go to www.mozilla.org and check it out if you're interested. just make sure to change safari's preferences to make firefox your default browser

Alan,
I would love to download foxfire and use it as my default,
but I still have the problem of not being able to download
anything. I've never really had any problems with Safari,
and it's pretty reliable for me. I've just started really
getting used to it and now this happens. Not being able to
download from the internet makes it very frustrating to
update other software. But thanks for your advice. When I
figure out what's wrong with Safari's downloading
problem I'll download foxfire.

Alan,
Thank you for the offer but I've found out that I can't
download from any server. I've tried downloading from
Camino and Explorer. I'm thinking that it might be
something in the system. If anybody has had this problem
and knows how to correct it, please tell me. I'm getting
desperate.
