Printing problem in OS X

I am having a problem printing to my laserjet 2300 in classic mode. This printer is connected via usb and can print in OS X fine. I can however print to shared printers over a network in classic but cannot see the usb printer. I have tried to setup the printer again and can only see the network printers. Any ideas? Thanks,
