Powermac G4 startup problem

my art teacher recently gave me a powermac g4 but when i got home and set it all up it went automatically to a grey screen and then when i pressed the cd eject button a small manila folder popped up in the middle of the screen and on the folder a question mark and this picture(http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q255/adamatemykeys/finder.jpg) blinked on and off of it
Can anyone help me or even knows that is going on Ive never used a mac before

The folder with flashing question marks means the machine can't find a valid start-up drive. It could be due to a failed drive or a messed up OS. Do you happen to have any of the system discs?

You will need the Mac OS 9 or OSX cds.
