Comment:

My dad owns a powerbook G4 12". It's about 3 and half years old and will no longer boot up. It gets stuck on the blue loading screen before the operating system has started to boot. It has also started making an odd sound which it didn't before. The sound is coming from the hard disk. I Don't really know much about macs but it seems to me like it maybe a hard drive failure. what can be done?

Have you tried booting off of a 9 CD, or 10 and running the HD utilities? Drive setup?

You could also try starting it up in target mode (holding t
while starting up) then connecting it via firewire to anther
mac and using disk utility to verify/repair hard drive hope it
helps

Tryin to learn...
