Hi y'all

Requiered myself a week ago a powerbook 5300cs which was working perfectly, accept for ofcourse the old battery. This morning I wanted to use it and judging by the sounds it made it was starting up normally, but the screen only lit up a little, there were no images to be seen... Anyone ideas on how to fix this?

Has it been through the REA program to fix all the major problems with those models? If not, call Apple and send it through. If so, you might just have a bum 'Book on your hands. They don't normally lose their screens like that...

Check your brightness and contrast controls, too.

I don't know if it's been trough the REA-program (it's had several owners). Were European owners admitted to that program too? Anyway, I just discovered that the REA-program expired last June 28th, just my luck.. Any idea if the machine is worth getting it checked/repaired at a store?

And checking the contrast and brightness controls was the first thing I tried ofcourse ;)

Probably not worth fixing if it's anything more complicated than software, since the 5300s are routinely selling for under $100 in good condition on eBay now.
