Power Mac G4 not recognizing CD

The CD drive is not recognizing any CD that I put into it. I have popped open the case and checked both ends of the IDE and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Any suggestions?

Will it boot an original system disk? If not try a new user, if still not showing, you are headed for repair on the optical drive, is it under AppleCare Protection Plan, if yes, call AppleCare Support
