I have a LaserWriter Pro 630 connected to
my Lombard PowerBook 400 MHz, 384
MB RAM, OS 9.0.4. Most of the time it is
great. Occaisionally, I run into a pdf file
that will not print. I get an error message
that says "The file cannot be printed. A
Postscript error has occurred."
Sometimes it prints on the retrty.
Somethimes it not only does not print, but
the printer becomes disconnected from
the computer (it no longer appears in the
Chooser.) Then I have to turn the printer
off and then back on, wait for it to print the
start-up page, and try again. This last
time I was printing a tutorial for Pixels3D,
and the file had lots of diagrams and
screenshots. But one of the pages
causing problems had only text.

Any ideas as to what causes these
errors, and more importantly , how to stop
them so the file will print? I have an
Epson 740, which did not have any
problem printing the same file.

On the advice of another technical
support area, I downloaded the Adobe PS
8.7 driver, installed, restarted. iI appears
in the Chooser. I Chose it, closed the
chooser window, opened up one of the
problematic pdf files, asked it to print.
The file spools, the page icon appears on
the new Adobe desktop printer icon. The
green light flashed a few times on the
printer, which normally means it is getting
data to be printed, and then nothing
happened. No error message, nothing
printed. The file disappeared from the
desktop printer window (from double
clicking onthe desktop printer icon.) I tried
to print a second time, after checking that
the printer was still appearing in the
Chooser, with the same results, only now
the computer has "lost" the printer. It no
longer appears in the Chooser. It
appears to be doing the exact same
behavior as with the Apple driver 8, except
I don't get the error message.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
