please help, finder not functioning

OS: os X 10.3.5
CPU/Ram: G3 900 ibook

i have just upgraded my os from 10.2 to 10.3 and when i
had done this finder compleatly stoped working. my hard
drive does not apear on desktop and i cant get to any of
my applications also when i put a cd in it does not appear
on desktop. i would realy appreciate any advise on how to
repair these problems. as i am a poor student i dont
particualy wont to fork out for an expensive repair. please
help me. thanks liam.

Reboot to the OS X CD and run the disk utility from there.

i have tried to. i might be an idiot but i cant get the cd to
run when i put it in it doesnt run automaticaly and no icon
apears on my desktop is there a way around this??? cheers

I think when it boots up you need to press C or something and it will boot from the CD. Try searching for startup switches. =)

thanks for your help it worked a treat. only one slight glich i had to totaly overwrite everyhing luckily i back upregularly so this is not to much of a problem. thanks again

Wow, I'm surprised. I'm mainly a PC guy, but I just began observing Mac's and learning about them. I'm glad to know that I gave the right advice. =) I'm glad it all worked out for you!
