Dear all I want to know, is it possible to prompt a PING command from a MAC? I hear this but nobody could give me an answer how can I do this.
On classic OS a third party program is required such as IP net monitor, on OSX it is possible to run basic network commands from a prompt.. dont ask me how though

Uhhh...open the Terminal, and type "ping nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn" where the nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address to ping.
Summary: I seem to recall having to actually enter a DHCP machine IP address for Mac OS 8.x, but in 9.x and X, it seems like it figures it out if you just go to control panels and tell it you want it to be DH...
Summary: I have a pc and mac. I would like to connect them via network cards. Mainly to share .wav files and Image files. Is this easily Done? thanks 4 comments...
