lately when ive been using photoshop6, ive been crashing alot when i try to save a file, or when im using any command, the crashes are sporatic, ive alotted alot of memory to the program...thats not it.....
the other thing is..when i put these files on disc and taken them to kinkos to print,
when i try to open up the files this is what the message says "the file is damaged due to a disc error, possible causes are defective disc drive, defective disc drive cable or incorrect peripheral cable termination. SOme pixels in the document may be invalid. Open anyways?"
when i open it, the image is screwed up in some areas..
....once i open the file there is
somthing wrong with it visually and it
prints out that way....does anyone know
what this may be?

Without knowing a specific problem, I would hazard a guess your preferences might be corrupt. Throw 'em out and try again.
p

you may try also buying/borrowing a disk repair utility like DiskWarrior.
i edit and do photoshop, and use that occasionally. it consistently can repair
directory damage that Disk First Aid can't even see. but try trashing the
prefs first, just make sure you have the serial number to re enter.

Your disk drive may indeed be faulty, you
know. You say the machine crashes, and
data is being corrupted on file saves.
These things can happen when the disk
drive is flaking out intermittenly and can't
read or write data (The OS and APPS rely
on DATA just as much as your saved
Pshop files).
Worth looking into.

what ive done is saved a file onto zip and
then reopened it from the zip disc, and ive
noticed that 4 out of 6 zip discs give me
that error message when i try to open the
file...could it be the zip discs? also, i
already dumped preferences and
reinstalled the program again and it still
occurs.

Well, try saving to the hard disk. If the problem goes away, I'd say the Zip drive or disks might be at fault.
p

ZIP drives and disks are infamous for
failure. Some zip drives and disks
perform flawlessly for years, and some
die early. Some work, but are unreliable.
They are for the most part pretty good.
So your options are to replace the zip
drive and disks and give it a try, OR to
replace the hard drive and give it a try, OR
both. You tell us NOTHING about what
mac you have, or if zip is built in or ext, or
anything! So I can't comment on the best
way for you to proceed in my opinion.
First thing is a no brainer: Get a zip disk
that you KNOW works well and try it out for
a few days.

the file WAS created on the hard disk and
saved on zip and then re-opened thru
zip...when reopened thru zip and not hard
disc..error occured.
