I've just inherited a powerpc performa 6200 but i can't get into it as the
machine is password protected, i don't want any of the files on the hard
drive but would like to keep the os etc...everytime i start it up the thing
loads up then a window comes up with the previous user and asks for password
and says always close etc....how can i bypass this password thing and start
using my machine?!!

I do have a norton system works disk and lots of other software but can't
use it as the machine is locked....please help!!!

Thanking you in advance from the cold night of bonnie scotland!!

If you have the original System Restore
CD then you should be able to start up
from that CD, hold down the "c" key on
start-up. Then you can re-install the
original system and start a-fresh.
If you don't have the start-up disk then you
can try starting up with the extensions
turned off by holding the "shift" key on
start-up. It might work to bypass the
password. You can download OS 7.5.5
for free from Apple and in a worst case
scenario erase the HD and reinstall the
OS.
