performa 6200 password protection

I've just inherited a powerpc performa 6200 but i can't get into it as the machine is password protected, i don't want any of the files on the hard drive but would like to keep the os etc...everytime i start it up the thing loads up then a window comes up with the previous user and asks for password and says always close etc....how can i bypass this password thing and start using my machine?!!
I do have a norton system works disk and lots of other software but can't use it as the machine is locked....please help!!!

If you have the original System Restore CD then you should be able to start up from that CD, hold down the "c" key on start-up. Then you can re-install the original system and start a-fresh. If you don't have the start-up disk then you can try starting up with the extensions turned off by holding the "shift" key on start-up. It might work to bypass the password. You can download OS 7.5.5 for free from Apple and in a worst case scenario erase the HD and reinstall the OS.
