i got amd athlon xp 3200+, 1gb of ram ddr400, ati radeon 9800pro, etc
i was wondering what is so cool aboutmac? they so overpriced and u cant do s**t on them? Why is it that expensive?peace

Supply and demand.
Noone DEMANDS them, so they have to jack up the price.
Now, AMD's are low priced, cheaply made, but the performance is just outragous.
The only way I would actually CONSIDER owning a Macintosh is if I can put Yeloow Dog Linux on it.

Also, the designs are just s---. Theres like no cooling in them, ever wonder why the LCD's in the older iMac's went floppy? Well, there was like no cooling in them and the heat got to the LCD and f---ed it up. And the Apple notebooks too, NO COOLING, they're f---en cooled by passing air.
Now, do any of you mactards wanna explain WHY we should buy a Macintosh. Dont give me any user friendly s--- becuase I see Windows a whole lot user friendly than MacOS. ALSO, dont tell me WIndows is s--- becuase once you actually use an NT based OS and tweaked it a bit you see its far saupirier to a MacOS based system, and OSX may be based on UNIX, but thats just a pure s--- OS also.

they got amcs g4 and 5s in mys school, i hate tehm. it looks like they got 166fsb and if you open like 5 programs there aint enough memory to run it. There arent any programs for mac, NO GAMES they only thing is a nice dispaly quality. I create web sites and on those macs they viewed incorectly too. I would never buy mac.
they got nice security tough, dont they?peace

Apple puts 128Mb on them and ships them with OSX.
HOW f---EN GAY IS THAT!
Same here, they got like 700MHz iMac's. I tell you, Those things choke on OSX.
Apple should REALLY think about use a different CPU.

why do schools spend fuc--n $4000 for sh---y mac whan they can get a good pc for $900?
i just dont get itpeace

Hell, cheaper than that.
case, mobo, video, Ahtlon cpu - $250
monitor - $200
256Mb DDR - $100
52X CD-ROM - $35
keyboard, mouse - $35
40GB hard drive - $100

This is a forum to help people with problems. To share
knowledge.
Such ranting about how bad Mac's are just shows your
lack of knowledge. Noone asked you to buy a Mac and I
am quite sure that noone will ask you for help on their
Mac Problems.
Please go back to updating your windows machines at
Microsoft and then don't forget to check for virus updates,
and oh yea, better run that spybot remover while you
think of it.
I for one enjoy using my Mac and not jumping through all
those hoops, just to keep my machine running.
But the more of you who choose to use Windows, gives
me work to do on the side, reloading and fixing them.
Cheers

Well, PC's certainly don't appear to have done much for
anyone's spelling, punctuation or grammar... People buy
Macs because they need to (for their line of business, like
publishing) or because they WANT to: some (like me)
prefer the Mac OS to Windows (yes, it's true: people have,
gasp, different tastes), or prefer the look of the actual
computers and peripherals. It may come as a surprise to
Windows users that not everyone is the same in this world
- does everyone like the same films, music or books?
Thought not...

PC's are great. Mac's are great. Depends on what you want to use them for. PC's are awesome large networking corporate computers, and easy to use home glorified word processors. Mac's are high performance production machines. I have Pro-Tools on both my PC and Mac. The PC is far less stable, and it is tweaked out the wazoo. The Mac runs flawlessly with Pro-Tools, and all my other audio production programs. Mac's have a niche in the Audio, Film, and Publishing Markets. So, Don't diss the Mac. FYI - Once Upon a Time in Mexico was edited on a Mac with Final Cut Pro. FYI - That latest CD you bought/downloaded...99% chance it was mixed and mastered on a Mac. So, in closing, Spend some time with a real Mac user learning about Mac's before you go off and diss it as an overpriced underused computer. You might just be surprised what you learn.

Hey Tony Iommi...where are you shopping? You are overpaying if those prices are what you are buying, bought, or checking out...

macs are expensive becuase there not
really designed for a home based
desktop. there made for business and
such. there not really made to have fun
there made to get the job done with out
any problems. PC's are made to have fun
on and occasionally do some online bill
paying and what not. that being said i
would say a pc i better for a family looking
for fun while a mac is more of the
corporate based users.
hi!

Better things with mac in my opinion:
- Plays DVD:s, just insert and it works.
- Itunes is far better then Media Player, and damn easy to burn audio cd:s
- iPhoto is included, there is nothing like that in windows
- Exposé is just great when working with lots of windows
- The possibility to turn on transparancy on terminals and such
- Airport always works, windows is soo bad and handling wireless connections
- Safari is nice with tabbed browsing and a bar for frequently used bookmarks.
- Allmost no viruses
- Look and feel of user interface and hardwareBetter things with windows:
- More users = more games and apps
- Price/performance (My iBook G4 800mhz, 640mb feels about as fast my old pc notebook (PIII 750, 256mb) based on JBuilder and Photoshop usage)basswood
