Does anyone know how to preserve long (more the 8.3 characters) file names when transfering files from a PC to a Mac. I keep getting ~1 ~2 all over the place.

Dear Tom, Sorry, I don't yet know how to prevent your problem. Do you know where I can obtain a Mac-Pc file conversion program?
Please let me know! Thanks

The PC based program, Conversions Plus, by Dataviz, will solve the problems. It's available from Dataviz web site and from many online computer stores. If you go to www.killerapp.com, you'll find the best online price for it. It can translate long file names correctly, read/write mac disks on the PC, and has features that the mac based translater that comes with your mac doesn't have.

I cant help with the current question but have one of my own on this subject. I am looking for a utility that will allow me to use my PC to format a diskette in Mac formatting, and also a utility that will allow conversion of picture files (bmp, wmf, tif, gif, jpeg) into a file format a mac would recognise?? Please give some suggestions...

enclose the filename in quotation marks. as for the mac reading tifs etc. simply rename them or again save in quotes as tiff. thats all there is to it.

Along the same lines, I'm looking for a way to expand Mac SEA files (which, as I understand, are compressed archives) on a PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks.
