Comment:
I had a PB3400c with erased HD and unable to re-install OS 8 cd as CDROM drive is faulty. I gathered that 3400 series have floppy disk images for complete restoration. Appreciate help to how to obtain these floppy disk images. Thanks

Alternatively, can I install OS via scsi port of PB3400c connected to another mac to use the cd rom drive? Please guide me through the steps. Any special scsi cable required?

The easiest way is to download disk images from Apple's website: here
Unfortunately, Apple don't let you download Mac OS 8. However, you can install System 7.5.3 and then upgrade to 7.6.1.
The other option (better for you) is to do a network install. Use a 7.5.3 boot floppy (from Apple's site at the link provided), and you should then be able to access the network from there. You will need AppleShare 3.6.5 or later to network install Mac OS 8.
Boot the PowerBook from the floppy. Connect it to your other machine using an Ethernet cable. Put the Mac OS 8 disc into the other Mac. You will be able to access it if you have AppleTalk activated and AppleShare.
I hope this information is useful in some way to you.
