Panther woes

I have a legit copy of Panther from a G4 Powerbook or iBook (i cant remember which) and I want to install it on PearPC. It says in the log something along the lines of (can't open /system/install/packages.mpkg/OS Install) i cant remember cos im at work now. How do I fix it?
