We are using an older mac 9.2. We have outlook express 5.0 as our mail program. It has worked fine for years. All the sudden it crashes when we try to load an attachment.

It's no longer supported so you'd have to run a Google search on abandonware to see if there is a copy to reinstall. OS 9 software is very very hard to come by.
