I installed Jaquar.
1st problem
I cannot change the startup disk into 9.1
again. I've only 2 options in the control
panel : OSX 10.2 or Network...?
2nd problem
I cannot connect to my other mac through
AppleTalk over an Ethernet network.
3d problem
I've an external Alcatel Speed Touch
ADSL/USB modem. In the control panel I
only see two options though : internal
modem or network. Do I need to install
the modem driver also within the OSX
environment. It's now installed in the 9.1
environment and worked fine.

Since you updated to 10.2 did you update the 9.1
to 9.2.1?If not then boot from the 9.2.1 update CD and
install it.I suspect you have 9.1 and 10.2 installed on the
same partition.....?On thee other MAC make sure file sharing is on.
On the OS X mac click the finder, click go, click
connect to server.Contact Modem manufacturer for OSX updated
driver as the OS 9 driver will not work except
MAYBE in Classic mode but I doubt it.

Thxs Wayne for helping me out. One
question however. I've the 9.2.1 update
downloaded from the net, so I've no
startup CD of it. Can I startup from my 0.1
CD that came with my IBook instead?

Willy, I have also updated to jaguar last night. I am on an up-to-date 9.2.1, and have not had problems there. But on the Alcatel USB speedtouch 'stingray', nothing works. The mac complains that the 'device does not exist' or something and greys out the option. Alcatel have updates available in UK http://www.speedtouchdsl.com/support.htm -- but I have not yet installed or tried. Let me know what you use to get going.

For Jaguar / os10.2 with USB modem use
updated drivers using link above and make sure
you select Alcatel Modem in system prefs /
network / modem - this gave me no problems
whatsoever - just a few minutes of installation.
Thanks for posting the updated drivers url
cheers
