Is it possible to instal OSX on my G4 from
disks intended for use on the iBook? Will
there be hardware problems?

Thanks

Not if it's his and it's not installed on the ibook
anymore!
why not use the single OS X install cd?
The ibook install cd's install 9.2 and X and alot of
other crap.

The odds are very good that it won't work, and that there *will* be problems.

I don't recommend using anything but a retail version of OS X to install on multiple machines. Using the CD that shipped with one model to install on another is usually a recipe for trouble.

Thanks for your responses. I guess the
overall vibe is that it might be risky.

As for the piracy thing, well, I don't want to
go over to OSX on my iBook just yet, so I
thought I'd try it out on my desktop. Worse
crimes have been committed.

Most licence agreements allow for the software to be installed on any number of computers as long as it isn't being *USED* on any more than one at a time.

However, it probably won't work.

Why not just give OS X a try on the 'Book? Dunno 'bout you but everything I need is available in OS X now, although I find myself increasingly reliant on shareware because I don't want to spend $400 for the new Office or $500 for the new Photoshop...
