I have an imac g3 266/6GBhd(4.8 GB free) runnig osx 10.1 (5g64). Upon tyring to update to 10.1.1 or combos, I get a installer upgrade needed message. When I install the inst upgd 1.0, I get to the disk check and my drive is dimmed. Automatic update says my system is up to date. I know it isn`t because the build number is still the same and I can`t install apps that require 10.1.1 or above. All other installations work fine, just problems with system upgrading.

Boot in single-user mode or from the OS X CD and run fsck/Disk Utility to make sure there aren't any problems with the disk.

Sorry forgot to put that in. I have verified the disk, it`s good. The format is OS extended not unix. Also, I am not running classic, just osx alone.

I had same problem, I had to down load
all the security updates first from the
apple.com web site, then download the
new installer, then download the OS
updates.
I had to manually get all these from the
apple.com site the system updater would
not get them for me.....

This is sooo Microsoft-like! :-( The f**k**g thing won't install! Same problems here. OSX Combined Update 10.1.5 tells me I need an Installer Update. The Installer Update won't install and I already tried all the security updates. Totally re-installed OSX from scratch for the third (!) time and still won't work. Thank you Apple, this sort of s--- is exactly why I got rid of Micro$oft!!!
