Comment: Hi, A friend has just bought an ibook with 10.3. I have 10.2.8 on my iMac. Will the ibook discs work to install on the Imac? They are labelled as iBook G4 discs? Also, can you upgrade to 10.3 or do u have to clean install? Thanks in advance, G

Reply: (edit)Apples new line of thinking is that each .X upgrade to OS-X you have to buy it. As for will it work on your ibook? Apple has a long list of computers that they do not support anymore. Including some ibooks. Really retarded if you ask me considering they use to give away 7.5.3 for free when it was out. Apple was doing alot better in those days.

Reply: (edit)Try looking at what he asked instead of flaming Apple. He has a new(ish) iMac, a computer definitely still covered. Even so, the earliest iBook is still supported by 10.3 because it 1) has a G3 processor and 2) it has a built-in USB port. About the original post, though. If you want 10.3, you ought to purchase your own copy. This board does not support software piracy. That said, I have a newer Powerbook and PowerMac. The 10.2 install DVD for my Powerbook will install Jaguar on my Powermac.
