Comment: hi, i need some help. installed OS X on my beige G3 300 (SCSI) and uninstalled it because it was sloooow. *note: i had to initailize the harddrive to install in the first place. i later took it off and tried to install 8.5 again. unfortunately, now the drives are reformatted and the system is installed (that's what the OS CD says) but the computer won't start up. i get the disk with a question mark. any ideas on how to fix this. **note: it's a 6gig drive with two partitions. **note: when i start up with the "c" key down, it recognizes the drives. without the "c" key, it doesn't see the

Reply: (edit)Boot from your 8.6 cd and use drive setup to, yet agian, re-initialize the drive (this is a good time to partition it again. I suggest a 1 gig for system and apps, and maybe one or two others for whatever your specific needs may be). Then re-install 8.6.

Reply: (edit)Make sure you remember the basics... after removing X from mine, I couldn't boot untill I zapped the PRAM. If that doesn't work, hold down the option key. finally removed the IDE cable from the drive and re-attach it.
