beige G3 300 (SCSI) and uninstalled it
because it was sloooow. *note: i had to
initailize the harddrive to install in the

install 8.5 again. unfortunately, now the
drives are reformatted and the system is
installed (that's what the OS CD says) but
the computer won't start up. i get the disk

Boot from your 8.6 cd and use drive setup to, yet agian, re-initialize the drive (this is a good time to partition it again. I suggest a 1 gig for system and apps, and maybe one or two others for whatever your specific needs may be). Then re-install 8.6.

Make sure you remember the basics...

after removing X from mine, I couldn't boot
untill I zapped the PRAM.

If that doesn't work, hold down the option
key.

finally removed the IDE cable from the
drive and re-attach it.
