For my next computer I was thinking about a powerbook or a mini. My question is...can the new mac os run counter-strike/steam with all the cool features turned on??? Its not nearly as demanding as doom3. On the retail box it doesnt mention macs so i was just wondering if anybody's done it before.

The answer to that would be no. The Half-Life 2's engine is extensively based on Direct X 9, so for the time being, it'll probably remain on PC for a while. BTW, don't even consider the mini if you want to play games. If you want to game in the Mac world with any quality/speed at all. you NEED a G5. Get at LEAST an iMac G5, preferably a Power Mac G5, wait for PowerBook G5, or get another cheap PC. Or just fix/reformat the one you have.

I dont believe it runs off the half life 2 engine. Counter strike source does but i was talking about good ol' version 1.6 Im just ssssoooo tired with dealing with my pc and its stupidity lol to say the least. But as it looks like i should be able to get both...a mac mini and a decent pc to play some games on.
