HELP!
I have a Mac G3/233MHz Processor/4GB HD/348MB
Memory. The printer functioned with OS 8.5
After I installed the OS 9.1 software, I
couldn't print. I get a message saying that
the serial port is already in use. The new
operating system has set my printer port for
some other use. I checked my printer drive
and it was OK. Apple Talk was set to use the
printer port so I changed it to remote and
set Apple Talk to inactive. My HP DeskWriter
560C printer still doesn't work even after I
rebooted the system. I still get a message
"Sorry, could complete the operation because
of a system error. The serial port is
already in use." What else could the printer
port be used for? When the OS 9.1 system
booted for the first time, a communication
error message was displayed. It asked about
resetting previous settings. I clicked OK.

My printer is working OK. It turned out to
be a simple problem. When I installed OS
9.1, it switched the serial port from printer
to modem. I didn't notice the change before.
Thanks,
