Specs: 8.6, Powerbook g3

I'm totally new with mac os. I'm having difficulties to set-up internet trough external (a)dsl modem. Whatever i choose, it wants to connect trough internal modem and i get a phone number to put in. In the tcp/ip settings i've chosen ethernet, but on the remote access i can choose only infrared, modem, and internal modem connection.

Please helpQ

Thanks.

I have a problem, i know :) I think there is missing an option of that connection in the os. I've red about "internet access kit" I just need a program to write in a user name and password for dsl connection, my dsl provider said they dont deal with macs... But in newer os X it's easier to set it up. If anyone has that kind of software for OS 8.6 please send it to e-mail primmmoz_s@yahoo.com

Thank you anyway albert!

You don'tneed software other than what is already on your computer, just some non-facetious advice ;).
Your'e probably confused about the 'modem' settings..well, there aren't any..as far as OS8.6 is concerned, it's just a *straight* ethernet connection.
start up tcp-ip control panel..
select connect via 'ethernet
select configure 'using dhcp server'
save your settings , or just close and it will prompt you to save, and that's it!
it should connect to internet now.

Hmm.. i did so but no progress. When i do exactly what you said it says that i must choose a ppp conection in tcp/ip settings. It seems illogical that in the remote access window where i try to connect there still is a phone number to put in. And you can not confirm connect if you dont write something there. Thats strange. I'll try to make a network with xp pc and than trough pc to the web ... :/
