Alex,
From your details above, if you have Mac OS 8.6, you can't.
.dmg (represents Disk Image) - are installation files or software to be run on a Mac with an Operating System of 10.1 or higher.
Operating System 8.6 all the way through to 9.2.2 will not understand .dmg - no more than they will understand .exe Windows installer files.
.dmg is the OS X equivalent of .img.
So - no Mac OS X - no opening .dmg files.
(and even if you opened them on a Mac running OS X and then transferred them back to a Mac running OS 8.6 - it would still make nill sense of the package contents - as they would also be for Mac OS X only)
sorry bout that
cheers

Reason to check .dmg files in PC is to be shure about contents to send in a MAC that canīt be connected to internet, this is my case. I downloaded an ISO file for Mac, but I canīt see any content after it was recorded, but CD is full with only 55 MB available space. I believe is a kind of .dmg file.

Possibly -
still - OS 8.6 won't comprehend an ISO file either.
This is one of the primary motivations behind Mac OS X - a system able to cope with just about any file type - provided they are not pure Windows files eg: something.exe
