Yeah, you'd think you should,(i've got a Maxtor 160 Gig also) but it's nothing wrong with your OS or iMac..thing is , there's a (roughly, I'm unsure of the precise amount) 130 gig size limit on harddrives that was built into all the system boards, as at the time they never thought anyone'd end up with drives this large...and the problem also exists on PC's, it's not just a Mac prob..
What you need is an UltraATA133 expansion card, or something like that..i havent checked exactly 'cuz it was $150 and, to me, the extra 32 gigs isn't critical at the moment..i was gonna wait till I found a used card, but if you want to use the entire drive,or anything even larger, you'll need one of those UltraATA cards.
HTH...

You're lucky. I'm only getting 128GB out of a
200GB drive. I can't find it now, but I once read an Apple knowledge base article that said all
PowerMacs before the MDD model can't address
more than 128GB.

The issue you run into with drives under 128GB
(my 100GB drive looks like 93GB) is at least partly
because the computer reports units in KB, not kB,
and 1KB = 1024B while 1kB = 1000B. So you
have just as many bits there if you are seeing the
2.4% decrease due to the K vs. k terminology. yet
beyond that I'm missing a little space on my
100GB for unknown reasons. On my 200GB drive,
though, the problem is simply a hardware
limitation in my 400MHz AGP G4 powermac, and I
think that limitation was common to all the <=
400MHz Macs.
