My computer 8500/180 i have put a newer technology G4 in late July and operating system 8.6. Until two weeks ago things were decent but now The computer wont boot it turn on but the sound of it is not full speed ahead plus the monitor doesn turn on its NOT FULLY booting wont boot for at least an hour I turn it on and off for an hour before at least at first it was 1 or 2x before it turned on. As you can imagine its painful. Has anyone encountered anything like this. I ran norton disk doctor I also I refered to the manual it says reset PRAM did that. I talked to a Apple consultant he says possibly the processor card I dont understand though had it for 3.5 months and has been fine until recently and not to boot real weird Could it be the battery 3.5v lithium inside. or something to do with the VRAM not want to kick start the monitor. I am really stumped.

Wouldn't hurt to change the battery. It's a
possibility. If this doesan't help, take the
Newer card out and try booting.

Reverse any changes that were made on
the system from the time that it was
working fine to the time that it does not
work. Someone probably changed
something somewhere on the system
which is causing the slowdown.

Also, try booting from CD (put in the OS
disk and hold down the C key). If it boots
fine from the CD then it is the hard drive
that is causing the problem. If your main
drive is nearly out of space this could be
an issue.

If booting from CD causes the same
issues, then the problem is probably with
the battery or logic board.
