Comment:

I recently bought a new Olympus digital camera, which connects to my Mac via a USB port. The specs say it's fully compatable with OS 9, and it is--for about a week of image transfers. Then my Mac loses the ability first to transfer pics, then to even put the camera icon on the desktop. It takes a visit to someone who applies Norton Disk Doctor and DiskWarrior to make things right again. Picture transfers then work fine for another week or so, then the problem recurs. Olympus has not yet responded to my request for assistance. Has anyone else observed and solved this problem?

No, but first thing I'd try is a third-party driver like Cameraid.

I've been using a friends usb sony dv camera for
about three weeks now,and you shouldn't need
drivers!,as long as your camera is on memory
max OS 9.x.x and 10.x.x,should mount it on your
desktop as though it was a usb hd!
Also when you unplug the camera from your
mac, make sure you unmount it from your desktop
first!(very important)

DV != digital camera.

There's a HUGE difference.

And DV != USB either. USB has nothing to do with DV.

dv camera's are also still camera's pickle!
A mode for video, another for playback and one for
photo's!,that's why alot of sony digital video
camera's have a memory stick!,they can hold
about 44 still photo's!,and why would you say dv
has nothing to do with usb?,how else do you
transfer photo's from a camera that comes with a usb link?

DV is FireWire-only.

Some DV camcorders have a still image mode, but that's not the same as a standalone digital camera.

But dv is higher quality!,and stored seperate from
from mpegs!
Dv goes on a dv tape!,mpegs go to the memory
card!

Yeah. And the USB connection doesn't work with the built-in drivers in the OS. The FireWire one does.

I have premier and a few other adobe appz
installed!,that could have something to do with my
plug and play luck with the usb connection?,but
it's not an adobe app that shows them by default!
it's picture viewer(classic running) or
preview(10.1.5 only)!

EVERY one of your sentences ends with
either an ! or an ?.
Hence, I did 'note' that you were excited.
