I recently had a new logicboard installed on my iMac, and
now I have no sound whatsoever. The computer does not
recognize the internal built-in speakers. It says that it
recognizes the headphones port, but when I put in
headphones, there is no discernible sound. I tried using
external speakers, but the computer does not recognize
these either. I have checked that the volume is on max, so
I was wondering if there is anything else that I can try to
get sound without having to bring in my computer
somewhere.

Thanks

It seems that you may have a couple of issues going on here. You should be able to hear through the headphone jacks whether you have speakers or not. Try this first. Reset the Parameter RAM (<Command><Option>

<R>) during the startup, but before the "Welcome to Macintosh " appears. Sometimes the PRAM can get corrupted and this can interfear with many system functions, including sound. If this does not fix the problem then have the audio cable connection and the speaker connections checked. If the connections are good then you have a defective logic board. If the connections are loose and reseatting them fixes the problem with the speakers but not the headphones then you will have to have the headphone board replaced. Good Luck.

i have an imac g3 dv special editition and i am having the
same problems. i have changed the hard drive to an 80
gig and blew aout the ram at 1 gig. it runs osx and it has
no audio. my mac does not pick up the audio port jack.
there is only static audio through the left headphone jack.
you can slighty hear something...i think? the right
headphone jack does not work. in the sound section of
system pref., the only port it shows is "built in
headphone". none of the ports work? need help!!!
